Accessibility Policy

Last Updated: October 27, 2026

The Period Project is committed to providing access to our information, programs, and services for people with disabilities. Our commitment to dignity and inclusion extends to the experience of everyone visiting https://periodproject.org.

Our Accessibility Goal

Our goal is to make our Website accessible and usable for people with a wide range of abilities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice controls, magnification, and other assistive technologies.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as a technical benchmark for our accessibility efforts.

This Policy describes our commitment and objectives. It is not a representation that every page, document, or external service has been evaluated or currently meets every WCAG requirement.

Our Approach

Our accessibility priorities include:

  • Providing meaningful text alternatives for informative images.

  • Using clear headings, descriptive links, and a logical content structure.

  • Supporting keyboard navigation and visible keyboard focus.

  • Providing readable text, sufficient color contrast, and layouts that support enlargement and smaller screens.

  • Making forms understandable through labels, instructions, and clear error messages.

  • Providing appropriate captions and other alternatives for multimedia.

  • Avoiding content that unnecessarily flashes or interferes with navigation.

  • Improving access to downloadable documents and essential information.

We aim to consider accessibility when adding content, updating functionality, and selecting services used through the Website.

To help us address your request, please provide, if possible:

  • The page URL or feature involved.

  • A brief description of the difficulty.

  • The information or action you are trying to access.

  • Your preferred contact method or alternative format.

  • Your browser, device, or assistive technology, if you wish to share it.

You do not need to provide a diagnosis or medical documentation to report a website accessibility issue.

We will review requests and work with you to identify an appropriate way to provide access. If your request involves an upcoming event or another deadline, please let us know so we can consider its urgency.

Alternative Access

If a website feature or document presents an accessibility barrier, please contact us for assistance accessing the relevant information or completing the activity through an appropriate alternative method.

Alternative assistance is part of our response to an immediate need. It does not replace our goal of improving accessibility of the Website itself.

Third-Party Content and Services

The Website may link to or incorporate services operated by other organizations, including donation platforms, volunteer registration forms, maps, social media, and other external tools.

Our ability to modify those services directly may be limited. If you encounter an accessibility barrier involving a service linked from our Website, please tell us. We will work to identify an accessible way to help you and, where appropriate, raise the issue with the provider.

Ongoing Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. Our objective is to identify and address barriers as the Website, its content, and the technologies used to access it evolve.

Feedback from visitors helps inform these efforts. We may revise this Policy to reflect changes in our accessibility approach or contact information.

Nothing in this Policy limits any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
